Most valuable archaeological findings, representing the life in Veliko Tarnovo region from the Neolit till late mediaeval are presented here. You can see the oldest gold in the world - the unique Hotnishko golden treasure from the Eneolith epoch Here is also presented the biggest collection of ceramics and pots from the Roman epoch and many other articles from the excavations in the area of the mediaeval capital. In the same building is also the regional library "P.R. Slaveikov" - one of the richest expositions in Bulgaria.

There are two expositions in this museum; "Veliko Turnovo and the Bulgarian system of state" and "Wars and national union of Bulgaria. It is presented the place of Veliko Turnovo in the public and political life of Bulgaria at the end of XIX and the beginning of XX century.

In the restored born house of P.R. Slaveikov (1827-1895) with many documents and pictures is presented the life and the creativity of the famous Bulgarian Publicist and social figure.

Next to the archaeological museum is restored old Ottoman town hall built from Kolyo Ficheto master in 1872. There is presented the history of Veliko Tarnovo region in the period of XV - XIX century. The visitors could see one of the best samples from our Icon painting art.
On the last floor is restored the hall, where in 1879 a session of the constitute assembly made up the First Bulgarian Constitution called "TARNOVSKATA KONSTITUCIA". Here was also proclaimed the first Bulgarian Grand Duke Alexander Batenberg and in 1885 was taken decision for consolidation of the principality Bulgaria and the East Romalia.
