The
Mediaeval church "St. Dimitar Solunski"
In the church in 1185 AD is announced the revolt of the brothers Assen and Peter. The Byzantine power has been repudiated and Turnovo is proclaimed for Capital of the restored Bulgarian State. The external decoration is a bright example of the Turnovo's architecture school.

The
"St. George" mediaeval church
The church was built in XIV century and is painted in XVII century. The wall paintings in it are impressive, a work of unknown masters, patrimonies of the Mediaeval painting school. |

The
Church "St. Peter and Pavel"
Built
in XIII century, it is a real masterpiece of the Bulgarian Mediaeval
architecture and painting. In the church are conserved 3 different coats
from XIV, XVI, and XVII century. In this church the Bulgarian patriarchy
was located and later the Greek bishopric.
The Opening time is 0900 - 1800 from 1st of April to 31st of October. In the winter period the church opens only with preliminary reservation. For reservations please call: +359(62) 34946 |

The
"St. Fourteen martyrs" church and the monastery complex
"The Great Laurel"
Symbolized
the power of mediaeval Bulgaria in XII - XIV century. The founded
rich necropolis with golden and silver ornaments, stamp-rings, waved
with golden threads cloths and others finds, shows the nobility and
high social affiliation of the buried. Most likely the main part of
them was rulers of Mediaeval Bulgaria. In this church was also found
the tomb of the Bulgarian king Kaloyan with his ring-stamp. |
